Sweet Bean's Summer Break

Here is my girl...
My girl who is so like me!!
She likes to be busy...
She likes to be done...

So...done she is.  She has finished 5th grade.  She got done a little early because she saw light at the end of her 5th grade tunnel and she just went for it.

She now needs something to do!!

We went for a short walk Friday afternoon and we were talking about  a summer project for her.  She is not a fan of sewing ..or knitting so I could not encourage her to work on craft projects to keep her appeatite for business filled.

But she had her own plan.  She really likes to write and draw.  She has always spent her free time doing either of these things.  But this summer she wants to take her writing in a new direction...
She wants to blog...

She had her plan all worked out...

"Mama, I have a name all picked out and I know what I want to write about.  I want to call my blog Sweet Bean 10...like sweet being 10 and write about my life as a ten year old"

Cute name I thought..super cute idea...but would she be ten forever???

"How about Sweet Bean Me? Then you can have the blog after you are 10"  She agreed.  We went home, checked the name, and grabbed her her own blog address...

She is going to be her own .com when blogger gets done doing it's business...so for now she is still blogspot.com..but not for long.

What can you expect from this summer project blog:
In Sweet Bean's Words....
Writings on what it is like to be 10 and the oldest of little kids....
What it is REALLY like being homeschooled......
Thoughts on my faith, my family, and my future.

So please stop by and let her practice her future in writing!!

  2. A great idea! My daughter started one last summer but lost steam once the school year began again. I look forward to reading her thoughts. :)

  3. What a great girl Emily is - encourages me for my own 3 daughters coming up that the tween years will be ok...

I particularly enjoyed the last picture of her doing her hair with her sister banging on the bathroom door...made me smile. I tried to leave a comment for her on her blog but when I try to use my gmail account it tries to make me sign up for blogger so i abandon comment..(same issue on any google blog like kellehampton or digthischick, etc). SO long story short - please pass along to her that I quite enjoyed her blog tonight - missy
