Welcome

Just today my home school group put out its newsletter.  This group is much larger than my last group so there are plenty of people I have yet to meet.  Never mind that I have been very absent from participating in much of what the group does ever  since I moved here. I am hoping to change that over the next few months as soon as my little Drew settles into his new life a bit more.

Anyway, the newsletter put out a list of all the bloggers from our group and I am one of them.  I figured a few may stop by  so I thought  I would welcome them and let them get to know me a little better.  Kinda like going around the room to introduce yourself at the baptism class.
I am Lisa!  I moved here about 7 months ago.  I was born in New York, lived there until I was 9, moved to San Francisco for 1 year for my dads job, moved to Florida where I did most of my growing up.  I married Pete at a crazy young age (20) and moved to San Francisco (again).  Pete was deployed for 7 months and I was foot loose and fancy free in San Francisco as a newlywed...I missed him but made a great friend who made the time go by quickly.
Pete got flight school and we moved to Pensacola for 18 months.  That was the first place that any of our friends had kids and we thought that was so WEIRD!!  Have Kids??  That was for "older" people...
We got stationed in San Diego for 4 years where I had 2 of my girls. We moved from San Diego with NO INTENTION of  EVER having more kids.
We then moved to our beloved Alaska where I found my beloved Catholic faith and proceeded to make 3 babies there.  My third baby was born at 20 weeks and we sadly did not get to keep him..

Next came Jack, then 12 months later Lucy.  We then moved to Alabama .  Had Priscilla. Moved to Virginia . Then had Drew...
the end....

As if I could end there....
I like to knit.  I like to take pictures of things I knit.  I like to look at  pictures other people take of their knitting. I like to think I can sew.  I like to paint furniture.  I like to have Pete paint rooms of our house.
I like to talk A LOT!!
If you ask me how I am doing you are likely to get a lot more info than you thought was coming...

I like to participate in lots of things but you do not want me leading anything.  Not because I am a bad leader...I am just not good with follow, so things go undone that should get done.  I will execute things people have created.  I go to bed early and get up early.  I have been running since Pete and I got married anywhere from 3-5 miles 4-6 times a week for like 15 years.  I do not consider myself a "runner".  I am just someone who runs and I am not that good at it.

I have home schooled for as long as I had kids in need of school.  I was a teacher for like 10 minutes before I had Emily.  I am not sure what the future holds for our home school, or for anything for that matter,  but I do know that everyday I become more aware of these fleeting moments with all my babes under my care.

One more thing...this is also not the blog to come to for great ideas on home schooling, or creative ways to walk through the liturgical year with your family.  You will not be given great inspiration on what to make for dinner.  You will not be ask to vote for my blog for any specific award.  I am a blogger who blogs about...me.  I am an expert on not much...but I found I can fill a line or to out about myself.  So..enjoy!
And as a small p.s.
I am not that  GREAT with names but I am super excited to meet new people.  I can be a good time especially if you are up for hanging out with lots of craziness going on around you, never finishing a sentence and usually having to lend me a burp cloth because I never come prepared for ANYTHING!!

  1. Lisa,
You sound like my kind of gal. I'd love to meet you and your family, if only there won't so many miles between us. God bless you.

    1. I feel like I would like to meet SO many bloggers I read. You never know. I have met Ginny from small things and Sarah from clay rosary girl and they are as sweet as they appear to be. I wish I could meet more people that I "meet" through blogging!

    2. I wish we could meet too. I have been lucky to make friends through this blog. But I'd love to have a real life, in the flesh friend too.
      Thanks for reading!

  2. Lisa,
I'm one of the moms in the HT group, and I've actually been reading your blog since before you moved here. :o) I've seen you a few times at Mass (my kids and I were behind your family Ash Wednesday). I'm horrible at introducing myself in real life, though, and I didn't know if you'd think it was weird of me to come up and say, "I know you! You write the Little House That Grew blog!" LOL I also wanted to ask if you got the Yahoo group invite, or if you need me to send you another one. Just let me know...

  3. Lisa,
You are too funny -- I didn't list my blog for pretty much the same reason. I just ramble about myself and what I happen to think is funny at the time, and I don't have the benefit of eye candy because I'm too lazy to post pictures! I (rather sporatically) post at ourlittlenuthouse.blogspot.com

I hope you're enjoying living here in VA!

    1. Anne,
You should have put your blog in the newsletter. It is fun readnig peoples words and thoughts. I think we have more time to complete thoughts on our blog then in person. ANd thanks for still reading. I was not sure if you still did.

  4. Hi Lisa!

I visited your blog because I have one of your kids signed up for the K graduation and I could not think of who you were - now that I see your face I realize that I've seen you at just about every HTH event! I love this blog - very beautiful pictures and witty writing. And we have to get to know each other because you sound just like me. :) Thanks for including this is the newsletter!

  5. Hi Lisa! I just read my HTH newsletter today! (it got lost in my inbox) I thought I knew all the HTH bloggers, but I didn't recognize your blog name. So I clicked over! We haven't met, yet but I have seen you in the hall. I'm guessing since I'm male dominated and you're female dominated, we must run in different clubs at HTH! :) Your pictures are beautiful especially as I'm very partial to yellow. Thanks for sharing! Do you happen to know the Hilleary's, also Coasties?
